JOHN MARX & The Blues Patrol
Most of this area's blues fans know John Marx as
the
brave leader of Cozy's Monday night jam sessions
for over twelve years,
but until you spend an entire
evening with just him and his band, you really don't
know John.

This is one of the finest guitarists on the West Coast,
with a repiortoire that stretches from down & dirty, chicken-scratching blues up through lush and elegant jazz. And to top it off, he sings his butt off as well.

John always brings along an "A-list" Blues Patrol band
and a songbook full of great, timeless music.

Treat yourself tonight.

PRO BLUES JAM
with SUGARAY

For more than 13 years Monday at Cozy's has been
THE jam night in LA and a constant fountain of emerging
talent. Every so often it’s blessed with a surprise
celebrity workout.

It’s really two shows. First up: A full set by our truly great
house band, led by blues giant Sugar Ray.
Immediately afterward, jammers come up on a first-come
basis, to be teamed with other players usually for
two songs.

From that point on, it’s a night of musical possibilities with
the house band members always on hand to insure that
an "A” level rhythm section is standing by, in case of emergency.
Sometimes brilliant. Always full of surprises. Never boring.

(Jammers, early arrival is suggested.)

Tuesday, July 8th
LOVE LIFE Featuring L YOUNG

L. Young's style is the equivalent of what music used to be,
ORIGINAL. Taking a chaotic blend of Kentucky bluegrass music
country, gospel and hip-hop/R&B, L. Young has transformed it
into a sound so smooth it could pour from a bottle of Southern Comfort!

With soothing vocal, creative writing, production and arranging skills,
arguably on a level above his peers, L. Young is the cornerstone that
personifies talent. With dynamic and seemingly flawless live performances,
these exceptional talents have earned him a reputation as a true "Artist".

In a business where electronic enhancements essentially create an artist,
L. Young has proven his staying power by remaining marketable, yet loyal
to his music.

musicians, artists and poets of los angles, and this is where
the Soul Station has been born.

Come down - see and hear for yourself - and let your talent be heard!

HindSite is Oldskool / groove variety band specializing in Top-40 R&B dance music.
With a music list more current than any cover band we've seen out there,
Hindsight's rock solid rhythm section and amazing vocalists wow
audience every time they perform.

When they teamed up in '98, they set out to play music that sounded
better than anyone else playing it. You won't find them playing endless solos
to stretch out their songs. HindSite packs a ton of material into the night ,
and they have a songlist big enough to keep just about any crowd moving
right up until the lights go out.

In addition to being featured as a headline act at some of California's top
club venues, they've been featured on TV shows and are currently in their
third year headlining the Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival, playing to
a crowd of over 3000 people.

Gina Rene
DRT

Trying to categorize Gina, artistically, is a bad idea.

The vocalist-songwriter glides so effortlessly across the lines
of r&b, hip-hop, house, electrofunk, alternative, soul and 1940's
torch-style singing, words don't begin to describe. You just
have to listen.

Blending R&B and Pop melodies with the wit of a true lyricist,
she soothes with her melodies and then challenges with the
truth in her words.

It's a night of soul, humor, intelligence and talent backed up
by a fittingly consummate band.

See and hear her for yourself HERE and HERE. Then join us
for some up-close and personal Gina. Better bring an extra
fifteen bucks, because to hear her is to want a CD to bring home.
Early arrival is suggested.

Friday, July 18th
LYNWOOD SLIM
Lynwood Slim felt there were only two things he could do
to make a living: shoot pool or play harmonica.
Thank goodness he chose to be a musician.

Although drawn to listening to Jimmy Reed and Little Walter,
he made the career choice after watching Brooklyn Slim and Paul Oscher. His early memorable gigs allowed him to sit in
with Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson and many other greats.

Eventually, he formed the Lynwood Slim Band, working often with Leonard "Baby Doo" Caston, James Smith and Walter Horton. His style of swing blues won him numerous awards.

This California native brings years of experience, dynamic
stage presence, powerfully expressive blues vocals, and
some of the most exciting blues harp you're ever heard.

was one of the first musicians from San Diego County to get a national record deal.

rock icon John Stewart, and played in several regional bands.

The Mentals, a brand new group, may just be his finest effort at good-rockin' American music.
They are:

*Joey Harris--Guitar, Vox*
*Mighty Joe Longa--Keys*
*Jeffrey Kmak--Bass, Vox*
*Joel Kmak -- Drums*

& The Buddaheads

Sometimes referred to as "the Screamin' Buddaheads",
they're one of L.A. music's vital signs, and there's usually a
crowd of die-hards to support this... also, there's a Grammy
Award for the official record.

They were once aptly described by one exuberant Cozy's regular
as: " high-test house-rockin', blues-driven trio (something something)
...pumped out original tunes that sounded like hits to me, [expletive]!".

We urge you to stop in for a Buddahead booster shot. Come early.
